LAKKI MARWAT: A large number of students from different government schools took part in the trials for different games at the Lt Adnan Shaheed Sports Complex, Tajazai, and Kabeer Khan stadium in Lakki city here the other day.

The trials are being held under the auspices of sports department to select players for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Under-23 Games. District Education Officer Haziqur Rehman had directed the heads of middle, high and higher secondary schools to ensure participation of students of their respective institutions in the trials.

Students exhibited their skills in the trials of volleyball, basketball and football to attract selectors.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan along with other officials visited the trials and watched the students demonstrate their skills.

On the occasion, players of private clubs and their coaches complained of poor arrangements at the venues. They told the deputy commissioner that refreshment was not arranged for the players who had come from remote areas to join trials. “Even drinking water was not available at the venues,” they complained.
