KOHAT: Deputy commissioner Zahir Shah Mohmand has given a stern warning to all the government schools in the district to make necessary security arrangements according to the official safety plan otherwise action will be taken against the principals.

Addressing a meeting of principals at the Government Centennial Girls School No 3 here on Wednesday, he said that all educational institutions should complete the security plan, including installation of CCTV cameras, search lights, security towers, barbed wire on the boundary walls and equip the watchmen with automatic weapons. He said that no leniency would be tolerated in this regard.

He said that soon meetings of the school teachers and parents’ liaison committees would be held to fill all security gaps and listen to complaints of the parents and the officials about lapses and unavailability of funds and find a way to solve them.

Executive district officer (female) Rizwana Liaquat, principals and heads of all the schools and colleges attended the meeting.

DSP Sona Khan told the meeting that SHOs were conducting security audit of educational institutions. He said that police had been put on alert at the entry and exit points of the city. He said that the training of guards at educational institutions was also being ensured.

PARAMEDICS PROTEST: The paramedics association here has rejected deduction of tax from their salaries and warned the government to withdraw it.

Kohat district paramedics association president Rashid Bokhari said in a statement on Wednesday that big thieves were exempted from all kinds of taxation whereas only the government employees and poor segments of the business community were forced to pay taxes.

He also demanded of the government to give paramedics, nurses and class-IV employees professional health allowance.
