SHIKARPUR: Sindh coordinator of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Dr Arif Alvi has said the province is in great trouble due to negligence of the Pakistan Peoples Party leadership towards provision of basic amenities, settlement of outstanding problems and redress of people’s grievances.

He was speaking at a meeting with city notables and journalists held at Gymkhana Club here the other day.

He said the PPP leaders seemed engaged in building their future by plundering national wealth. They encouraged the culture of corruption and commission-based system of percentage on all development and non-development funds allocated in annual budgets.

Criticising bad governance of the Sindh government, Mr Alvi accused the PPP leadership of usurping the democratic, legal, constitutional and moral rights of the people which caused unrest among the masses.

Mr Alvi said the PTI under the leadership of Imran Khan would never leave the people of Sindh in the time of trouble. All-out efforts would be made to restore their rights when the PTI came to power with the support of the democratic people in the federal and provincial governments, he said.

He said people of all the provinces of the country had become disappointed with the performance of opportunist and selfish leaderships belonging to various political parties and groups.

He asked people belonging to all the provinces generally and Sindh particularly to support the struggle led by the PTI for restoration of democratic and fundamental rights of the people. Replying to a question about the proposed census, Mr Alvi said that it should be conducted with the policy of transparency and in the larger interests of the people of the areas concerned without creating any conflict among the masses.

About transparent elections, Mr Alvi said that responding to his suggestion, 400 electronic voting machines would be purchased by August to experiment with the electronic voting system.

On the occasion, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader Dr Agha Moula Bakhsh Pathan announced joining the PTI and decided to launch a membership drive in Shikarpur district.

Dr Moula Bakhsh Pathan, Agha Arslan Pathan, retired Colonel Zia Siddiqui, Sunahra Baloch and other PIT leaders addressed the meeting.
