BANNU: Two people were killed when an improvised explosives device (IED) went off at a puncture shop near a bus stand on Monday.

Police and local residents said that unknown people had planted the device sometime in the night at the shop near the Zandi Akbar Khan bus stand.

When shop-owner Dil Nawaz Khan opened the shop in the morning, the device exploded, killing him and customer Shamsur Rehman. The shop was destroyed.

Security personnel reached the area, cordoned off the locality and started a search operation.

They recovered arms and ammunition during the operation.
