HYDERABAD, Nov 7: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has expressed concern over the proposed privatization of Jamshoro, Kotri and Lakhra powerhouses.

In a statement issued from the zonal office of MQM, the members of the Sindh Assembly belonging to the MQM said that these three powerhouses were earning huge profits and paying taxes to the government to the tune of tens of millions of rupees per annum.

The MPAs reminded the government that it had already suffered huge losses due to privatization and agreements with the IPP.

They claimed that privatization of the above powerhouse was not in the interest of the government.

They said that thousands of workers would be rendered jobless.

They appealed to the president and prime minister to stop the privatization of powerhouses with a view to protecting the future of thousands of workers.
