KARACHI: IT employees plea allowed

Published November 8, 2003

KARACHI, Nov 7: The Federal Service Tribunal allowed on Friday appeals by 24 income tax employees for their promotion in accordance with a merit list drawn up after a departmental examination in 1999.

Twentyfour senior clerks and stenographers submitted through Advocate Nawaz Shaikh that 40 of their colleagues were promoted in October 1999 on the basis of the departmental exam. Their promotion was about to be notified when the military government decided on rightsizing and downsizing. Meanwhile, employees of the Faisalabad income tax region who had qualified the exam were promoted.

An FST bench, comprising Nazar Mohammad Shaikh and Hasan Raza Pasha, accepted the appeals and asked the Central Board of Revenue to issue promotion orders in accordance with the merit list.
