KARACHI: Navy officer promoted

KARACHI, Nov 5: The government on Wednesday announced the promotion of Rear Admiral Farooq Rashid, Commander Logistics of Pakistan Navy, to the rank of Vice-Admiral with immediate effect.

Vice-Admiral Farooq Rashid, born in Karachi, joined the Navy in 1967 and commissioned in operations branch in 1970. Soon after commissioning, he joined the submarine force.

He is a graduate of the Naval Staff College, Rhode Island (USA) and the National Defence College, Islamabad, where he was awarded a Masters degree in Strategic Studies. —PPI
