Three killed in incidents

LAHORE, Nov 4: Three people were murdered and as many injured in different parts of the city on Tuesday.

Two robbers broke into the house of Muhammad Arshad at Saeed Park in Shahdara Town. Neighbours Muhammad Sharif and his son Shahbaz rushed to the house on hearing noises. The intruders opened fire on them, injuring both men seriously.

More residents gathered at the scene and chased the miscreants, one of whom was caught while the other managed to escape with the looted goods.

The injured men were taken to the Mayo Hospital, where Mr Sharif died after first-aid and his son was in critical condition.

The body was sent to the mortuary for autopsy. A case was registered with no arrest.

Meanwhile, a heroin addict allegedly killed his younger sister and injured mother and two neighbours at Sant Nagar in Islampura.

Quoting sources in the family, the police said Amir Abbas had asked for money to purchase heroin and attacked his mother Shamim Bibi (50) and sister Gulshan Bibi (22) when the demand was not fulfilled.

Neighbours Iqbal and Shahzad reached the place for rescue but they, too, were attacked and injured seriously. The accused escaped from the scene while the injured persons were rushed to the Mayo Hospital.

Gulshan died at the hospital. The body was removed to the mortuary for an autopsy. A case was registered with no arrest.

A man was shot dead for pursuing a murder case against his relatives, in Kahna.

Police said Karamat Masih (35) had been pursuing the case of murder of his niece Rubina. His relatives, Ashraf Masih, Aslam Masih and Gulab Masih, allegedly involved in the murder, allegedly kidnapped Karamat from his house and stabbed and shot him to death.

The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. A case was registered with no arrest.

Patwari held: The Anti-Corruption Establishment on Tuesday arrested a patwari on corruption charges.

Khalid Mahmood of Kasur lodged a complaint with the ACE director general against patwari Sardar Liaquat Ali that he had received Rs17,000 bribe from him and was asking for another Rs50,000 for land transfer. The DG set up a team which arrested him while receiving the money.
