KARACHI, Dec 28: An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement was shot dead in Shah Faisal Colony on Friday.

Police said Mirza Wafadar Hussain, 27, was sprayed with bullets near Colony Gate in the Al-Falah police limits. The victim died on the spot and his body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.

Police said the victim was affiliated with the MQM. He worked for the Landhi town office. Police have failed to find any clue to the killers so far.

BODY FOUND: The body of an unidentified teenage girl was found at a deserted place in Gulzar-i-Hijri on Friday.

Police believed the girl had been kidnapped, raped and thereafter throttled to death by unknown persons. The girl appeared to be from a well-to-do family.

Her body was dumped in the bushes behind the Maymar Complex in the Gulzar-i-Hijri police limits. The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy and later kept at a Edhi morgue for identification.

ACCIDENT: A young man died and two others suffered injuries in a road traffic accident in Orangi Extension on Friday.

Police said that Shahzad, Kamran and Javed were travelling on a water tanker when it overturned in a bid to save a motorcyclist in Sector 16, Orangi Town. As a result, Shahzad, 22, died on the spot. The injured were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

INJURED: Two brothers suffered burns at their welding shop near Kalapul on Friday.

Police said that Qasim, aged 24, and Hashim, aged 30, suffered burns when they tried to operate their welding plant from which gas was already leaking. Both the injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital where the doctors said that Qasim had sustained 42% and Hashim suffered 30% burns and their condition was serious.

CARJACKING: Thirteen vehicles — six cars and seven motorbikes — were either hijacked or stolen in the metropolis on Friday.

Two cars were hijacked in district East and one in South. Three others were stolen in district Central.

Three motorcycles were hijacked in district East. Two others were stolen in East, two in Central and one each in South, West and Malir.

COP SHOT DEAD: A policeman was shot dead and another wounded in what appeared to be a target shooting in Gulshan-i- Iqbal on Friday.

Police said head constables Saleh Mohammed, 37, and Ghulam Fareed, 38, were on duty outside a marriage garden in Block-2, opposite Moti Mahal marriage hall, when two armed men in a Suzuki hi-roof sprayed them with bullets and sped away.

Salem Mohammad died on the spot, while Ghulam Fareed was taken to the Aga Khan Hospital where he was operated upon.

The DSP of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Anwar Zeb Khan, said registration number of the vehicle, which the assailants were riding, could not be known.

A duty officer at the Gulshan-i-Iqbal police station said the body of the slain police official was sent to his native town, Naushehro Feroze.
