One injured in grenade attack on ARY News office in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Unidentified attackers hurled a hand grenade on the Islamabad office of local television channel, ARY News, on Wednesday evening, injuring a channel staffer.

According to ARY News, the attackers also opened fire at the office, injuring a non-linear editor working for the news channel.

In December last year, a similar attack outside another news channel, Dunya News' Faisalabad bureau, had left three of the channel's employees injured.

While in November, unidentified gunmen had attacked a DawnNews Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) van in the Essa Nagri area of Karachi, leaving one staffer injured.

Attackers riding motorcycles fired straight shots at the DSNG van near Essa Nagri, leaving technician Hassan Mateen severely injured. Mateen was taken to a private hospital for treatment.

The attack was widely condemned by all sections of society and journalist organisations had announced protests.

This attack happened near red zone and security of that area is very tight so how they managed to attack ARY news office? The main question arises is that if media houses in highly alerted areas are not safe then it means, prominent personalities like politicians, anchors, political/defence analysts, bureaucrats and judges are also not safe.

@asad lateef This area is highly alerted area near read zone and if you can enter in this area with bombs then it means, you can also enter in red zone easily and attack prominent personalities and state buildings. You cannot compare it with paris attack because as i said, it is highly alerted area so there is no comparison b/w paris attack and this attack.

It is very important to take guns from the hands of anyone except the police and army. Possession of fiearms by general public, rich or poor, must be severely punished. Then there will be no need to ban pillion riding and public will feel safe.
