ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Water and Power urged the authorities concerned on Monday to convert tube-wells in Balochistan to solar energy.
Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmad Muhammad Shah apprised a meeting of the committee held under the chairmanship of Iqbal Zafar Jhagra that the feeders there often tripped because of overloading and therefore tube-wells should be switched to solar system.
Members of the committee supported Mr Kabeer’s suggestion and asked the ministry for an early initiative in this regard. The chief executive officer of Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) said the move would provide relief to people.
The meeting was informed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had directed the Zarai Taraqiati Bank to announce an easy loan schemes for farmers soon.
