Six more human traffickers arrested

Published November 4, 2003

LAHORE, Nov 3: Six more human traffickers were arrested from Lahore and Gujranwala divisions during the last few days, the Federal Investigation Agency (passport cell) claimed on Monday.

FIA officials told Dawn that Bisharat, Aftab, Muhammad Aziz and Shahid Iqbal had taken about Rs2 million from different people to send them to the United Kingdom on fake travelling documents.

Ghulam Murtaza and Muhammad Hayat had taken Rs1 million to send two people to Greece.

The FIA had started the crackdown on travel agents, especially in Gujrat, Gujranwala, Malikwal, Sialkot and Mandi Bahauddin, last month following the deportation and drowning of several Pakistanis in European countries.

A number of travel agents involved in the business have been arrested since then.

The FIA officials were optimistic that they would nab more travel agents involved in the heinous crime with the help of the arrested accused.
