SWABI, Nov 3: About 400 employees of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) will not get their salaries if the Tehsil Swabi Council didn’t pass the annual budget in the current month.

Sources in the TMA told Dawn here on Monday that for the last four months the salaries of the employees had been arranged from some different income heads due to council’s failure to pass the annual budget.

The sources said that actually the council was required to pass the budget in July or August but till Aug 29 there was endless rivalry over the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition against the Tehsil Nazim Masood Jabar and his deputy Ali Yar Khan.

Now both the parties are sticking to their guns and there was no sign that normalcy will return to the TMA, which had created anxiety among the employees.

The sources said that Tehsil Nazim had already decided to look for alternative arrangements and he might approach the provincial local government department against what he termed the rigid and uncompromised stand of the opposition who created one problem after other.

The treasury benches, the sources, said had alleged that the Opposition mainly comprised Awami National Party and these people did not want the progress and prosperity of the district while the Opposition said that the Tehsil Nazim had already lost the majority and he should step down.

The employees, the sources, said had performed their duty and the TMA was bound to arrange their salary at any cost.
