ISLAMABAD, Nov 2: The Quaid-i-Azam University has decided to resume its master’s classes from Monday, said an official statement.

The university had been closed down following the killing of a second-semester student of History department, Naseeruddin, in a clash between two student councils on the campus on October 13. The university administration after a thorough review of the security measures on Saturday decided to open all its departments for master’s classes from Monday. The administration has also requested the local police to assist it in maintenance of peace on the campus.

However, sources close to the student councils told this reporter that Pukhtoon Council, whose member was killed during the clash, might take revenge with the opening of the university, therefore, the university administration would have to be more vigilant so that no unwanted elements entered the campus on whatsoever grounds.

A senior member of the QAU administration confided to Dawn that it had prepared more than one contingency plans to handle any October 13-like incidents on the campus in future. He said the administration was fully aware of the fact that if it failed to maintain peace on the university premises in future, many an head would roll.
