ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah's visit to Islamabad to resolve the conflict with the centre over Rangers' powers in Sindh culminated with the premier directing Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali to visit Sindh to 'sort out' the outstanding issue on Rangers' powers, said Shah.
Talking to reporters after holding a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here, Shah said the meeting was held in a cordial environment and that all reservations of the provincial government were presented to the premier.
The chief minister insisted that the conditions placed on Rangers' powers by the Sindh government were not 'unreasonable,' adding that the DG Rangers and other officials had been instructed verbally to consult the chief minister or the chief secretary before making political arrests many times before.
Shah said Sindh had been empowered after the 18th Amendment to ratify Rangers' powers, a right it exercised through the assembly.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Shah agreed that no compromise will be made over the Rangers-led operation against criminals and terrorists in Karachi as it will bring peace in the city, official sources said.
Qaim called on the premier here to discuss issues related to law and order and role of Rangers in Sindh.
Sources said the premier assured Qaim that Sindh government's reservations over security issues will be addressed.
Nawaz and CM discussed the overall security situation in Sindh, Radio Pakistan reported.
No official statement regarding the meeting has been released as yet.
Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as provincial ministers Murad Ali Shah and Sohail Anwar Siyyal are also in attendance at the meeting.
An official and sources on Tuesday said the prime minster had invited Qaim “most probably” in an attempt to defuse growing tensions between the centre and the province over special powers for Rangers in Karachi.
Nawaz Sharif, during a visit to Karachi on Monday, was expected to touch upon the Rangers issue with the CM but met him only briefly at the airport and left the provincial capital without formal discussion on the matter.

Whatever the outcome of this meeting, Ranger's operation to clean Karachi from all evils, primary being corruption should not be compromised. The peoples of Karachi were fed-up with law & order situation affecting their everyday life. Rangers operation has brought a sigh of relief, if the targeted operation is compromised then everything will be back to the drawing board, all sacrifices given by peoples & law enforcing agencies will go in vain.

We should take an overall view of how Sindh (not just Karachi) has been governed over the past 7-1/2 years. Where has all the revenue of the Province gone in those years, if one is unable to see any improvement in any sector relating to the well being of the citizens of the Province?

Corruption is the mother of all evils.Terrorism and criminalism are patronised by the corrupt mafia so that the general public remain engulfed with the sufferings and devastation of criminality and pay no heed to corruption practices of ruling class in the name of democracy.7 and half years of democracy has plundered thousands of billions of Rupees by the ruling class and it is now time to take get hold of these culprits whoever it is so that no one is involved in further corruption.

Why the political arrests shall seek permission and others not? It shows clear intention of the CM to create two classes in society to treat positively the politicians even if they are corrupt and non-politicians. If the CM had performed good governance during his eight years tenure, there would had been no need for Rangers operation. Favoritism and discrimination are pretty visible in the affairs of Sindh government.

Mendate of Sindh government over the last eight years lead to a lawless Karachi, a haven for every type of crime, relentless looting by the government, money laundering and economic terrorism by political and economic elite. Only a blundering fool will except such a mandate. Even in a semi civilised country, such a government will he held accountable for its sins. Instead they are snatching powers from the rangers to continue their loot with impunity. There is no shortage of imbaciles in Pakistan that respect mendate of crooks and thieves.

It has been proved beyond any doubt that, 18th Amendment had been made only and only to frustrate the writ if the Government in apprehending corrupt Government and political people under the law, for putting them through due process. The 18th amendment is a big bottle-neck in need to be repelled and sanity revived in governance.

War against terrorism has been diverted unfortunately - look no response by Ch Nisar or rangers after Parachanar Blast last week killing 25 innocents and yesterdays Mardan blast killing another 26 innocents and blasts claimed by SSP that has hideouts in south Punjab.

Sindh is unfortunate to have PPP rule for the many years and yet there is worse poverty, social deprivation, lack of security, complete lack of progress and the list goes on. CM Sindh is very right.....although the Sindh Govt is highly corrupted and its incompetence has no match .....lol......but on a matter of principle Rangers have no authority to intervene in political matters or investigate corruption........all criminals and terrorists should be arrested only according to the mandate provided to them by the provincial government...............May God guide us all Ameen....

There is something grossly wrong in the Federal administration of the Country. PM sharif din't have enough time just talk to CM, while there is a misunderstanding in Governing Karachi. where there is an elected Provincial Government in Sindh, then how come a paramilitary force operating there with a special power by passing Provincial CM. I think main problem is somewhere else. That will have to be traced out first, otherwise Country is going to sink in deep trouble. Even it may go out of hand. Only and only corrupt people, must be screened out and this job must be done by the Police.

Generally speaking Spade should be called Spade but in Pakistani politics and especially in Sind or PPP politics there is no room for honesty and fairplay. Tax payers demand that Rangers must be given full powers to eliminate the danger posed by terrorist or fanatics elements. If PPP gets hurt so be it. People of Karachi must become more vocal and active in defending their rights.
