DADU: Transfers stir row

Published November 3, 2003

DADU, Nov 2: Differences between District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar and DCO Aijaz Mangi have cropped up over the transfer of five Tapedars by the latter.

The Nazim, through a notification on Saturday, stopped the transfer of Khadim Hussain, Tapedar of Jhangara, Nazeer Ahmed Birhamani (Khudabad) Bashir Ahmed (Badani) Sardar Ahmed Mallah (Channa) and Walidad Khoso (Kotri) made by the DCO and asked them to continue their job.

However, Mukhtiarkars concerned refused to hand over the charge to Tapedars and told them that till the DCO issued the notification of stopping transfers, they would not hand over the charge to them.

price hike: The district administration has failed to control the prices of vegetable, meat, fish, fruit and other eatables in the month of Ramazan.

A survey conducted by this correspondent showed that shopkeepers were selling these commodities on higher rates as the administration had taken no action against profiteers.

According to the survey, lady finger was being sold at Rs25 per kg, fish at Rs110 per kg, potato at Rs6 kg, tomato at Rs45 per kg, apple at Rs35 per kg, date at Rs40 per kg, flour at Rs12 per kg, sugar at Rs25 kg and chicken Rs90 per kg.
