KARACHI, Oct 30: Mahmood Hamid struck a brilliant half century and Fazle Akber took ten wickets in the match to pilot PIA to an exciting six wickets victory over Pakistan Customs in their Patrons Trophy qualifying rounds match at Quaid-i-Azam Park Ground, Steel Town on Wednesday.

Set 195 for victory in 43 overs, PIA achieved the target for the loss of four wickets in 34th over thanks to a fighting opening stand of 109 runs between Mahmood Hamid and Kamran Sajid.

Mahmood hit six boundaries and a six in his 67 off 82 balls while Kamran Sajid contributed 39.

Earlier Pakistan Customs were bowled out for 186 in their second innings. Aamer Bashir again showed his class with another unbeaten 68, following his 115 not out in the first innings.

Test paceman Fazle Akber produced another splendid bowling performance, taking five wickets for 67 runs in the second innings to finish with match haul of ten for 120 runs.

PIA were dismissed for 262 in their first innings in reply to Customs first innings score of 270, thus conceding an eight runs lead.

PIA collected 12 points from the triumph.
