LAHORE, Oct 30: The Pakistan Wapda Hydro-Electric Central Labour Union has appealed to Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to announce Eid allowance equal to one month pay for government employees and industrial workers.

The demand was voiced at a union meeting held here on Thursday with zonal chairman Maqsood Ahmad in the chair.

Union secretary-general Khurshid Ahmad and other leaders said the wage-earners required special allowance to celebrate Eid as they would not be left with enough money for the purpose due to increase in prices of essential commodities during Ramazan.

The union leaders also demanded restoration of the employment quota of retired Wapda employees and efficiency allowance besides early regularization of the contract employees with three-year service.
