Opposition’s protest today

ISLAMABAD Oct 30: The MMA-led demonstration outside the parliament house on Friday morning is likely to turn into a protest of all opposition parties against the detention of Pakistan Muslim League-N acting president and ARD president Javed Hashmi.

The MMA had announced that it will stage a sit-in outside the parliament house, to be joined in by other opposition parties, including the ARD, against what was termed the ongoing “unjustified military operation” against the tribal population in Fata.

This impression was conveyed by MMA secretary-general Maulana Fazlur Rahman in his telephonic conversation with his party’s deputy chief and MMA’s deputy parliamentary leader Hafiz Hussain from Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, now in Makkah Mukarrama, had a telephonic contact with the exiled PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to express his distress over the arrest of Mr Hashmi, and assured him the alliance’s full support in the struggle to get his (Mr Hashmi’s) release.
