SUKKUR, Oct 29: Shaista Almani, who had married Balkhsher Mahar of her own will, was handed over to her parents through Almani tribe chieftain Ajmal on Wednesday, this correspondent learnt.

Almani and Mahar tribes were against the marriage of Shaista and Balkhsher.

The woman was residing in the house of Rahim Bux Bozdar after the couple were forced to return to Ghotki. Balkhsher is residing in the house of Ali Gohar Mahar.

The decision to hand Shaista over to her parents was made at a meeting in the Lal Mohammad Almani village, Ghotki district, after a double bench of the Sindh High Court, Sukkur, on Tuesday directed the regional police officer and the deputy inspector general of police, Sukkur range, to produce the couple before the court on Oct 30.

When this correspondent tried to contact Rahim Bozdar and Ali Mahar by telephone, they were not available.
