DACCA: The East Pakistan Governor, Mr Abdul Monem Khan, last night [Nov 29] urged the people to prepare themselves for waging a “Jehad” against any further attack by the treacherous enemy — India. Addressing a “seerat Majlis” at Chowk Bazar the Governor spoke on the need for supreme sacrifice on the part of the people to meet any eventuality to preserve the territorial integrity of the country.

The Governor condemned the Indian Brahminism which, he said, could never reconcile themselves to the creation of an independent homeland for the Muslims. He said the evil designs of Brahminic India were exposed on Sept 6, when she attacked Pakistan without any formal declaration of war. Exposing India’s war hysteria, the Governor said India by force grabbed states like Hyderabad, Junagadh and Manavadar.

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies from Lahore,] Syed Abul Ala Maudoodi, Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami, has stated that Jehad is the only solution of the Kashmir problem. According to a Jamaat-i-Islami Press release issued here today [Nov 30], the Maulana who was addressing a public meeting at Muzaffarabad on Friday last said Pakistan should no longer pin hopes either in the United Nations or the Big Powers. We should resolve this problem through our own efforts relying on God Almighty, he added.

About India’s military strength, he said numbers never decide the fate of the war. History was replete with examples when a handful of Muslims defeated thousands of infidels. The recent Indo-Pakistan war was another shining example. It is the man behind the gun that matters, he said.

He was of the opinion that there should be no delay in the solution of the Kashmir problem. The Indians were exterminating the Muslim population under a planned scheme and if this process was allowed to continue, a time would come when there would be no need of plebiscite in Kashmir at all.
