LAHORE: A Combined Opposition Parties public meeting held here today [Nov 28] reaffirmed people’s support to the Government in war efforts and demanded immediate arrangements for mass military training so as to meet Indian aggression more effectively in future.

The meeting, held in the Circular Garden outside Akbari Gate, was addressed by Syed Mohammad Afzal (Council Muslim League), Chaudhri Mohammad Ali (Nizam-i-Islam), Khawaja Mohammad Rafiq (Awami League), Mr Abdul Majid Qureshi (Jamaat-i-Islami) and Mian Abdul Khaliq (Council Muslim League).

The speakers were unanimous in condemning the American duplicity and treacherous Indian attack on Pakistan. They demanded strong action to stop the genocide of innocent Kashmiris by Indian Army and militant organisations.

Syed Mohammad Afzal retraced the history of the Muslims’ struggle for independence in the Indo-Pakistan sub-continent and concluded that the Indian Hindus had accepted the creation of Pakistan only temporarily. He said their mental reservations and the wicked intentions to undo Pakistan had been demonstrated occasionally during the last 18 years.

Emphasising the need for giving military training to adults and students, Syed Mohammad Afzal said it was no time for rest and complacency. He said those who helped us during the recent war are certainly our friends and those who helped our enemy directly or indirectly are certainly not our friends, whatever may be their professions.
