SWABI: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would provide Rs100 million for launching Energy Systems Engineering (ESE) programme in the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Science and Technology.

This was announced by the provincial Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar while speaking at a meeting at the GIK Institute on Saturday.

Jehangir Bashar, Rector GIK Institute, Dr Zahid Ayub, president of Isotherm Inc. USA, Dr Haider Ali, parliamentary secretary on anti-corruption, MPA Mohammad Shiraz Khan, provincial secretary for higher education Ataur Rehman and additional secretary Khalid Khan were in attendance.

Mr Qaisar said the provincial government would provide financial assistance to construct a separate building for the new faculty, purchase equipment and meet other requirements. On the occasion, Zahid Ayub said he would use his links with leading faculty members in the US universities to help prepare world class curriculum for ESE students.

“We want to enhance GIK Institute’s collaboration with leading American universities and we have already succeeded to develop a link between GIK Institute and the University of Texas,” Mr Ayub said.
