PESHAWAR: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP), in collaboration with the Pakistan Railways and a private tour operator, Sehrai Tours, on Monday organised a daylong safari train tour from Peshawar to Attock Khurd in commemoration of the Allama Iqbal Day.

The Abbasin Train Safari was a study and fun-filled tour that was enjoyed by the 70 students from different schools of Peshawar, according to a press release.

The train began its journey, leaving Cantonment Railway Station on a beautiful cloudy morning towards Attock Khurd.

While reaching Attock Khurd, the students accompanied by their teachers were briefed about the historical significance of the Railway Bridge and Station along with other historical sites. The students were provided lunch boxes and refreshments.

The tour was in connection with a six-month-long scheme planned by the TCKP to attract more tourists to the joyful excursion.

According to the scheme, train trips would be arranged on the special days of the year. The train tour in December has been themed as Quaid-i-Azam Day, January 2016 as New Year Celebration, February 5 as Kashmir Day, March 23 as Pakistan Day and the excursion in April has been titled as spring festival.

The officials have also decided that the scheduled trips from Peshawar to Attock Khurd would be via safari train while coming back would be via road.
