PML-N to hold rallies

Published October 28, 2003

LAHORE, Oct 27: The PML-N said here on Monday that it would stage protests during Ramazan to mount pressure on the rulers to overcome the cotton crisis, price-hike, growing lawlessness and solve other problems facing the people.

MNA Saad Rafiq and MPAs Rana Mashhood and Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor said, at a news conference, that the operation in tribal areas would also be a subject of protests.

They expressed concern over the deterioration witnessed in all fields, and said the government had failed to deliver.

Protest camps would be set up at the district headquarters, schedule for which would be announced subsequently.

PML-N leaders were critical of the demolition of offices and residences on Fane Road.

They said people’s sympathy for police had gone up after the recent incident in which a constable was punished for stopping a military officer’s vehicle. This was a matter of concern, they said.

They said the PML-N would also invite other parties in the ARD to the protest camps.
