Windies spinner Narine reported again for suspect action

West Indies off-spinner Sunil Narine has been reported for a suspect bowling action during Saturday's third and final one-dayer against Sri Lanka, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said.

“The match officials' report, which was handed over to the West Indies team management after the match, cited concerns about the legality of the 27-year-old's deliveries,” the ICC said in a statement on Monday.

“He is required to undergo testing within 14 days, and, during this period, Narine is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known,” it added.

The ODI series in Sri Lanka, which the hosts swept, marked Narine's return to international cricket after being reported first during the 2014 Champions League Twenty20 tournament in which he represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Even though he was free to bowl in international cricket, his board withdrew him so that he could remodel his action.

Narine, who has played six Tests and 55 one-day internationals, was subsequently picked for the World Cup in Australia earlier this year but the spinner pulled out saying he needed more time to fine tune his action.

The kinks in his action resurfaced again in this year's Indian Premier League Twenty20 competition with the KKR spinner being reported again.

Now this is the real dhandli. How come only non-Indian, non-English and non-Australian bowlers only get reported for illegal action. I think something is fishy here and Saeed Ajmal's claim of bias against the out-of-big-three cricketing nations needs to be seriously looked into. For starters, the ICC should immediately constitute a committee of renowned bowlers, technical experts and specialists to look into the bowling actions of all top 30 bowlers in worl cricket, to root out any suspicions. Secondly some workshops need to conducted to explain the details to the affected bowlers. Thirdly ICC should promote and encourage cleaner and orthodox actions in member countries at grass root and domestic levels through intensive and rigorous inspections, remedial actions and supervision.

Weldone ICC-Indian Cricket Council. Harbhajan Singh and Ashwin are openly chucking in the current series against South Africa and both them has not been reported. Don't believe me go check out the ODI's for Harbhajan and check current test series for Ashwin's action.

@Naxalite yes we all watch the cricket with closed eyes. Bilal took 5 wickets and got reported immediately, havent seen anybody with more straighter arm while bowling. He got cleared also by the way. Dont know what umpire saw? Ashwin has a fast carom ball action that is impossible to bowl with straight arm and straight back. Either you bend your arm or you bend your back to apply force. Guess nobody watches cricket with common sense.

Only bowlers with Indian ancestors are reported. All their grandfathers were Indian. Partiality towards teams who are on losing side and complaint.

@Amir Khan - Harbhajan was reported twice in his career which made him take a long break from international cricket so that he can rectify his actions. Pragyan Ojha the Indian spinner is currently banned from bowling in international matches. He's been banned since last year. Moreover Saeed Ajmal and Bilal Asif have both been cleared by ICC. Please get your facts right before bashing India. If more and more of your bowlers are getting reported then surely there must be a problem at the grassroot level.
