Ehtesham emerges as new leader

RAWALPINDI, Oct 25: Wng Cdr Ehtesham of the Rawalpindi Golf Club (RGC) on Saturday took over the leaderboard in the net competition from overnight leader Vaqas Ahmed carding an aggregate of 141 over two days in the President of Pakistan Cup Tournament.

Ehtesham, an 11-stroke handicapper carded net 69 on the second day following up his first day’s score of 72 net.

However, Vaqas of Rawalpindi who had a round of net one under par 71 on the opening day, achieved an identical score on the second day of the tournament at the Rawalpindi Golf Club to be a stroke behind Ehtesham with net 142.

In third place was the experienced Taimur Hasan, who played par 72 and stood at a net total of 145 followed by Peshawar’s Dr. Aimal Zaman and Tariq Akbar of Islamabad, both of whom were tied at net 146.

Vaqas maintained his lead in the gross event which is being contested for the Attock Bowl following up his first day’s two under par 70 with another similar round aggregating par 140 over two days. His nearest rival was Taimur Hasan who was five strokes behind at 145 with a round of par 72.

Vaqas birdied holes one, seven and nine while bogeying the par 4 fifth hole. Taimur on the other hand had one birdie going out on the eighth and struck another on the 15th hole. He bogeyed twice on the par four sixth hole and again on the 17th. Dr. Aimal had a gross score of 148 finishing the day with a round of three over par 75.

In the juniors net tournament Zuhair Javed finished on top with net score of 126 as Rawalpindi’s Zohair Alam followed at net 135. Haider Attiq took third place with net 137.

Wamiq Shakil of Rawalpindi claimed the juniors gross honours finishing on 162 over two days as Haider Attiq at 163 came in second while Hamza Haroon was third on 168.
