Students forced to clean bathrooms

RAWALPINDI: Students of a private college located in Kotli Sattian complained to the assistant commissioner on Friday about the administration of their college for physically and mentally torturing them and making them clean the washrooms.

When the assistant commissioner arrived at the college, more than 30 female students gathered around and complained against the administration, detailing its wrongdoings.

Students said when they refused to clean the toilets college staff tortured them, physically and mentally.

Assistant Commissioner Mehr Ansar Hayat confiscated dozens of batons from the college and wrote a letter to the district officer education asking him to take action against the college administration.

When EDO Qazi Zahoorul Haq was contacted, he gave no response.

students should clean wash rooms voluntarily.Cleanliness and hygiene must be at top of education syllabi.

What's the big point! It's a good habit. The same students when they go to the West they wash dishes and bathrooms of goras to earn extra bucks, better to wash our own bathrooms.

It is everybody responsibility to keep the environment neat and clean. it is good to inculcate in the minds of the young generation the habit of volunteer work. Rather, it should be made part of the curriculum and made compulsory for passing the graduation. Voluntary work in schools, colleges, hospitals, mosques, churches, public parks, public libraries, orphan houses, elderly homes, community homes should be made recognized and given credit in the appointment of public and the government job. There is no harm if school children are asked to clean the washrooms, organize desks and chairs or bring water.

So? Alot of other public school systems in other countries (Japan comes to mind) have to clean their school- including bathrooms.

admin of the school should be baton charged n made to clean bathrooms of the same school for the whole month! after all, if students can do it, so can admin!

If the college administration is charging the students,which normally is done,then the administration has no right to ask the students to do this kind of menial work. It looks the college administration is trying to deprive of the professional cleaners of their work and save the expenses. The students be asked to concentrate on their studies. Action should be taken against the college administration.

Paid for my time in college cleaning toilets and mopping floors. and now i have a house cleaning business:) but the use of the batons, THAT is a no no!!
