QWP ministers take oath in KP, Mushtaq Ghani sacked

PESHAWAR: Two Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) legislators took oath as ministers joining Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pervez Khattak's cabinet on Tuesday as their party joined the PTI-led provincial coalition government after almost 20 months.

Provincial Governor Mahtab Ahmad Khan administered the oath to QWP's Sikandar Khan Sherpao and Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli.

Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli will serve as minister for mines and minerals as well as labour and manpower while Sikandar Sherpao will be the senior minister for home and tribal affairs as well as irrigation departments.

Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao also serves as QWP parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly while Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli is party's serving general secretary.

Earlier in September, QWP had entered into an agreement with the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) to share power in province, almost 20 months after the former was thrown out of the province’s ruling coalition on corruption charges.

The agreement was signed by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao himself.

The QWP had become part of the ruling coalition in the province after the PTI formed the government in the wake of the May 2013 polls.

However, the PTI ousted it from the government on November 9, 2013 by sacking its both ministers, including Sikandar Hayat Sherpao and Bakht Baider Khan, on corruption charges.

Mushtaq Ghani sacked as Information Minister

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak took the charge of information ministry from Mushtaq Ghani.

The minister who was serving as the provincial information minister since July 2014 was sacked to make room for the freshly inducted QWP ministers in the cabinet as according to 18th amendment of the constitution, Chief Minister KP can only keep 15 members in his cabinet.

Mr Ghani joined Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) after winning a seat of provincial assembly in the last general elections as an independent candidate and was first appointed adviser to chief minister and later included in the cabinet as minister for higher education.

He replaced the former KP information minister Shah Farman as minister for information back in July.

Mr Ghani was the third information minister of the incumbent provincial government as his predecessor Shah Farman too had taken over the portfolio from Shaukat Yousufzai. All three belonged to PTI.

Every action of PTI is undemocratic. They sack a minister for corruption and reinstate him after few months. They include a big gun politician who has crossed over from other party and immediately reward him with high position in the party. I guess PTI wants to follow the methods of traditional undemocratic parties of the past in Pakistan.

@fida ...At least PTI sacked them.....on charges. What can you say about the LAWs which are not complete enough to convict them. This can only be done by the MNAs and MPAs setting in Parliaments to make new LAWS and amend the current one. A setting Senator is has been accused and tried to investigate, but people in ISB and other provinces don't want this......U better grow up, and support change, whether its PTI or any Party. Every one knows Sherpao, but what can you if you don't have the pre-requisite ....the suitable LAWS.

Ghani was an educated and articulate person. He did not have any corruption charges on him. I guess he was performing well but looks like performance is not all that matters in PTI books.

The preacher (Imran Khan), who used to give us lectures during the 'Dharna' and teach us morality, justice, democratic norms and what not, day in and day out, does not even bother about the happenings in KP. Everything he says now seems a joke. He has turned a blind eye to the undemocratic activities of the CM who should have resigned or commit suicide when the APS incident took place and when a bulldozer ran over three people killing them on the spot. Why did you (Imran Khan) daily give us the example of Korean PM who resigned when a ship sank near the Peninsula. The people have now clearly noticed that what you preach, you do not practice it. yourself

Imran Khan used to taught us morality, democratic norms, justice, courage and what not, day-in and day-out during the famous Dharna. He has now turned a blind eye to the ineptness and corrupt practices of the CM, his best friend who should have resigned when the APS incident took place and when a bulldozer ran over three laborers in Peshawar. I can not forget the story of the Korean PM Imran used to narrate us every night, who resigned when a ship sank near the Peninsula's waters. It is now obvious that what Imran preaches us, he does not practice it himself. Everything he says seems to be a joke now.........

Atleast PTI is not begging before MQM to take back their resignations.... have you got any doubts about mqm..... what about PM say no agreement with Gen. Musharaf, then proved it was 10 years agreement.... dont you guys teach PTI morality, which hasnt been any of the party's manifest..... We still believe khan is the solution & you want to see change come & see / ask kpk people .... you will see huge difference in governance .....

I don't know what the KP government is up to, why accept corrupt members as ministers, either they shouldn't have declared them corrupt or they should have maintained their stance. Even though I have some sympathy for Imran Khan, but on this one I am sorry, the PTI is guilty and people, at least educated people, would not support this and PTI may eventually lose its support in the educated and liberal circle. Although PTI is still better than other parties, but if this strategy continues than the time is not far away when PTI would suffer the fate PPP suffered. The biggest challenge that PTI will face in the next general election would be from Bilawal Bhutto, as till now people in general see him as a good lad, as he is Marty keeping a distance from his dad and Sindh government. So my message for PTI is to get their act sorted or be ready for a humiliation in the next elections.

Concerned to me and rest of Tribal people : "while Sikandar Sherpao will be the senior minister for home and tribal affairs " alarming bill rang in the ear. Dor granted FATA, outsiders rule FATA ( President, governor KP, FATA Secretariat Peshawar, bureaucrats from KP and centre, political agents apointed in FATA) none are supposed to be from FATA. And above this FATA have no recognition as body/Unit neither in NFC award nor in 18th amendments and its resources are shared in pool like a loot is shared by thieves.
