Another title for Anoosha

ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: Anoosha Aslam won her second successive title in two weeks as she defeated Sara Mahboob on Thursday to land the under-14 title in the Ufone Junior tennis tournament.

A product of the Islamabad Tennis Academy (ITA), Anoosha did remarkably well in scoring a 4-1, 4-5(3), 4-2 victory over her opponent whom she had also beaten in last week’s under-14 final of the Federal Cup.

Coached by former Davis Cup player Mushaf Zia, Anoosha played a controlled game throughout the match and unsettled Sara with an array of fine cross court, forehand and backhand shots.

Mehak Khokhar claimed the girls under-10 title outplaying Mariam Yahya 4-0, 4-1 in a one-sided final.

Yousuf Ajam and Sadanul Haq qualified for the final of the boys under-12 category as they knocked out their respective rivals with ease.

Yousuf’s victim was Jibranul Haq who was handed a 4-2, 4-0 defeat while Sadan blanked Zahid Ajam 4-0, 4-0.

Ahmed Ch. meanwhile advanced to the final of the under-10 category beating Salaar Ahmed 4-5(4), 4-2, 4-0.

Results: Girls under-14 final: Anoosha Aslam (ITA) bt Sara Mahboob 4-1, 4-5(3), 4-2.

Girls under-10 final: Mehak Khokhar bt Mariam Yahya 4-0, 4-1

Boys under-12 semifinals: Yousaf Ajam bt Jibranul Haq (ITA) 4-2, 4-0, Sadanul Haq (ITA) bt Zahid Ajam 4-0, 4-0.

Boys under-10 semifinals: Ahmed Ch. (ITA) bt Salaar Ahmed (ITA) 4-5,(4), 4-2, 4-0.
