ISLAMABAD, Oct 23 : President Gen Pervez Musharraf appreciated the efforts for the conservation of Rohtas Fort (1541 A.D) by the Himalayan Wildlife Foundation, Ministry of Culture, Shell Pakistan and National Fund for Cultural Heritage.

The President also stressed that more people from private sector, interested in heritage conservation, must be encouraged to come forward. “I would personally provide support to efforts towards conservation”, he added.

President commended Shell Pakistan‘s efforts in conserving the fort. He said not enough attention was being paid to the conservation of national monuments.

The President lauded the Light and Sound show held at Rohtas Fort on Wednesday evening.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Raees Munir Ahmad, said the restoration of Rohtas was an immense undertaking, which will require many years of support from all sectors of society.
