GUJRANWALA: Thirty commercial plazas and a housing scheme office were sealed by Aroop Town Municipal Administration on Saturday.

Town building inspectors Azhar Mahmood and Sajid Ali had submitted a report to the TMA that Garden Town Housing Scheme, Phase-III, and 30 commercial plazas had no approved maps and building plans.

A team, led by City Assistant Commissioner Attiqur Rehman, sealed the buildings.

District Coordination Officer Amir Jan has issued directions to police to register a case against housing colony owners, including Muhammad Iftikhar and Sheikh Ilyas.

REFUGEES: The refugees from Azad Kashmir, who were settled in Cantonment Kashmir Colony, Chand Da Qila Bypass, Pondanwala Chowk, Civil Lines Camp, Ghakkhar Town, Jabuki, Qila Dedar Singh and Hafizabad, have expressed resentment against the government for not deploying the chief settlement commissioner in the city for the last several months to settle their land cases.

Refugees leader Malik Anwarul Haq said they had deposited Rs1,000 per unit with the national exchequer for the allotment of plots for ownership in 2010 but the plots were not being allotted to them due to the absence of settlement commissioner.

ELECTROCUTED: Two men were electrocuted in the Jinnah Road and Francessabad areas.

Reports said Muhammad Asif, 25, was flying a kite with metal wire which touched electricity line, resulting in his death.

In the other incident, Mohsin Masih was on his way to home when he touched electricity wire in the street and died on the spot.

FIA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed on Saturday to have seized 20 Pakistani passports, two computers and fake visas/documents in a raid at the Shahzad Visa Consultants in Gujrat and arrested its owner, Ehsan Elahi Butt.

A case had been registered against the suspect.
