LAHORE: Squash great Jahangir Khan and hockey Olympian Islahuddin have urged government and Pakistan Olympic Association to accept all such proposals that would improve the standard of sports in the country.

They were talking with the media in a break during the interactive session organised by the POA here on Saturday for adopting a roadmap for bringing improvement in the standard of sports.

Jahangir said though a comprehensive briefing was given by POA president retired Lt Gen Arif Hasan, it would be interesting to see how the government and the POA would implement all those recommendations in true spirit.

He added that several suggestions came from different quarters at different forums in the past but due to lack of spirit no visible change could be brought to the standard of the games.

Islah urged the government and the POA to launch serious efforts for bringing real change in the system, otherwise, the country would stand nowhere in the world of sport.

He said all the decisions should be taken in the national interest, ignoring individual ones.

Islah said it was a great attempt to gather a good number of sportspersons but the real achievement would be achieved when a best solution would be found to solve the problems of players, coaches and trainers.
