LAHORE: A heavily loaded competitive card of seven races has been dished out when the 5th Lahore Winter Meeting gets under way at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

In all, 78 horses have accepted for the day’s racing. Six events are to be contested over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres. The feature event, the Fantastic Plate class V and VI (combined) will be contested over 1,100 metres.

Starting declaration for all races will be received till 10:30am on Sunday and announced immediately thereafter.

Barring one race in which the entries are below the double figure other events are loaded with acceptors crossing the double figure marks. In each race there are at least four or more form horses standing a good chance to make the events competitive.

The September Cup, a race for class IV division I, II and III to be gone over 1,200 metres has been declared void for want of required number of horse, under the Lahore Race Club (LRC) rules of racing.

The first race will be held at 1.30pm.

Meanwhile, the LRC has informed owners/trainers that a specially sponsored cup race for class V horses will be staged on Oct 18 for which a notice has already been issued so that they may tune up their horses to take part in it.

An another notification has informed owners, trainers that from now onward horses tagged Thoroughbred Pakistani (TBP) they intend to bring in the race club will have to be cleared after blood and mallien test at the stud farm where they are bred and lodged.

LRC Veterinary Officer will conduct the tests at the stud, whose owner will provide pick and drop facility the V.O. On clearance after the tests, the LRC V.O will issue the gate pass and only then the horse will be admitted in to the stables. This facility is only granted to TBP and HB horses.

Owners, not desirous to avail this facility can undergo quarantine procedure at the quarantine stable of the LRC situated at its main entrance, the notification adds.
