DHAKA, Oct 19: England captain Michael Vaughan paid Dav Whatmore a huge compliment on Sunday by highlighting the rapid transformation of the Bangladesh Test side since he took over as coach.

Vaughan, speaking to reporters before the start of the first Test on Tuesday, remained confident of victory but said England’s preparations for the match were the same as for any other Test team.

“We have seen video footage and they have made huge improvements in the last two series against Australia and Pakistan,” he said.

“They even came close to winning a match against Pakistan, There is no scope to underestimate them.

Bangladesh have yet to win a Test, with 23 defeats and a draw in 24 starts since being awarded Test status three years ago. They have also not won in 44 one-dayers since the 1999 World Cup.

England drew both their rain-affected warm-ups, against a Presidents XI and Bangladesh A but dominated both games.—Reuters
