LAHORE, Oct 19: A student and a married woman committed suicide while a trader was shot dead in separate incidents in the city on Sunday.

Hashaam Ahmed, 22, was a student in Bahrain and had come to see his family in Gulberg. Following a quarrel with his family over money, he locked himself in a room and hanged himself from a ceiling fan.

Nighat Bibi, 27, often had quarrels with her husband Shah Nawaz over monetary matters. Following a quarrel on Sunday, she took poison. She was admitted to the Mayo Hospital where she died.

Meanwhile, a trader was shot dead in Barki Hadiara.

Police said Abid (30) of Model Town had gone to a function organized by his friend Ghulam Rasool. He got into a quarrel with Mumtaz, Asad and Sabir at the function, who allegedly shot at him. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

The police claim to have arrested Mumtaz and Asad.

The accused, however, claimed they were celebrating the function by aerial firing when a stray bullet hit Abid.

HELD FOR FORGERY: The Anti-Corruption Establishment claims to have arrested a real estate agent from his house in Sherakot, who forged property documents in connivance with officials of the Lahore Development Authority.

According to an ACE official, the establishment had received complaints that the accused, Ashraf, was depriving people of hundred and thousands of rupees by ‘allotting’ them residential and commercial plots on fake documents.
