Case registered against ulema

GUJRANWALA, Oct 19: Three prayer leaders were booked on Sunday on the charge of violating a ban on the use loudspeakers in Ghakkhar town.

Wazirabad ASP Waqar Ahmad Chohan was on his way to Ghakkhar by his official vehicle when he noticed that prayer leaders of three mosques were violating the ban. Taking a serious notice, he directed the police to register cases against the violators.

On ASP’s orders, cases have been registered against Maulana Sultan Ahmad of Jamia Masjid, Hazrat Pir Abdullah Shah; Hafiz Muhammad Arif and Maulvi Ghulam Murtaza with no arrest.

STABBED: A woman reportedly stabbed her husband with the help of her lover on Sunday in Garjakh.

Shabana Bibi, the wife Munir Ahmad, developed relations with other people who would visit her house at night. On Sunday, Munir saw her wife sitting with her lover. They attacked Munir with knives and stabbed him to death when he admonished them and escaped.

Police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.

ARRESTED: Tetley police claimed to have arrested a gang of robbers after an encounter and recovered looted goods and illicit arms from their possession here on Sunday.

On a tip-off, DPO Saud Aziz directed a police team to conduct a raid on the hideout of criminals. After a brief encounter, the raiding team arrested Ghulam Mustafa, Sajid, Saeed, Shahid, Amin and other criminals.
