KARACHI: A dead body of an unidentified woman was found in pieces from two separate areas of Karachi’s Malir Town Wednesday.
The body is apparently of a young woman, who was murdered brutally and then cut into pieces before being dumped and hidden, police sources told Dawn.
The body pieces stuffed in shopping bags were recovered from the main National Highway and railway track in Malir area of the city.
The body was shifted to Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of the death.
Malir City Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammed Ishaq said DNA samples were collected to identify the woman while investigations are under way to determine the motive of the murderer and the cause of crime.
According to a Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) report published in Dawn Newspaper in April, the number of women killed in the first quarter in Karachi has dropped to 25 this year from last year’s figure of 55.
Of them, 14 were killed by relatives last year and eight this year. Besides, 23 women were killed by unidentified people last year, while number of such murder cases reduced to 13 this year.
