Norway keen to invest in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Oct 16: Federal Minister for Communication Ahmed Ali has said Norway is interested in investing in Pakistan’s scrap industry.

Talking to ambassador of Norway Janis Kanavin who called on him here on Thursday, the minister said Pakistan had the world’s largest ship breaking industry and it was improving day by day.

Mr Ali was briefed on Norwegian ship owners association who are keen to cooperate with Pakistan.

Mr Kanavin expressed his concern over violation of human rights and social responsibility in scrapping industry of Bangladesh.

Mr Kanavin appreciated the performance of National Highway and Motorway Police and admired their polite and civilized behaviour while on duty. It is the best example of changing behaviour in Pakistan, the Norwegian envoy said.

The minister said the ministry of communication was working hard to improve the standards.

He said the government was not going to compromise on quality and societal values.
