Three officials arrested

SHIKARPUR, Oct 16: The anti-corruption police on Wednesday arrested three officials of the education department here on charges of corruption after registering a case.

The officials were involved in the embezzlement of government funds by preparing false bills for Rs2.9 million against the difference of salaries of 52 employees serving in the education department.

The arrested were additional district officer Jalaluddin Bhutto, additional accounts officer Huzoor Bakhsh Shaikh and a primary teacher Mohammad Soomar Lodhro.

Five others, district officer Madam Noor Jehan Mangi, Qaisar Hashmi, now working as additional district accounts officer at Jacobabad, clerk Ghulam Mustafa Banglani, EDO budget officer Saeed Ahmed Bhutto and audit officer Abdul Rehman Soomro, were absconding.—BoC
