Are we close to war?

Published September 1, 2015

Measures to foil peace between Pakistan and India are being taken by the Indian army, but my question is: how long will we tolerate this kind of behaviour from our neighbour?

Do we understand the cost of war where killing millions requires nothing more than just a button to push. Recently about eight people died on the working boundary in the Sialkot sector near the border. This violation of the ceasefire has been going on for months, but this time the death count is much higher.

Unarmed civilians and their livestock were the victims of Indian shells and bullets while Indian authorities claim that it was Pakistan which started firing first. This blame game must end.

Our country is already going through a critical stage of political and economic uncertainty, and a war against another atomic power is the last thing we need.

Peace-keepers of the UN must step in right now while things could be settled at the table, instead of settling things on the battlefield. If this issue is left unresolved, I am afraid we’re headed for a much darker and belligerent future.
