SAHIWAL: The supply of fake, spurious and adulterated milk to Lahore from Okara, Sahiwal and Kasur districts has been reduced because of a campaign by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA).

Provincial Food Secretary Food Pervaiz Ahmed said this at a meeting with revenue officers in Sahiwal on Friday. He said 80 per cent of the milk supplied to Lahore was made of dry milk, oil and some chemicals. The PFA would enhance checking of milk supplies through assistant commissioners and revenue officials.

He said now lots of checks had been imposed on milkmen as the Punjab government was committed to providing good quality food to consumers.

ACCIDENT: A security guard died under Lahore-to-Karachi Awam Express train when he was asleep on the railway line late on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Sadaqat.
