ISLAMABAD: The Consul General of the Republic of Paraguay in Pakistan, Kanwar Mohammad Tariq, on Friday hosted a reception in the honour of squash icon Jahangir Khan.

The ceremony was attended by guests from all walks of life including diplomats, bureaucrats, businessmen, media personnel and intellectuals.

Speaking on the occasion, Kanwar said it was an honour for all that a living legend — who brought Pakistan in international limelight by winning a record ten British Open titles and six World Open crowns, and remaining unbeaten for 555 consecutive international matches during 1981-1986 — was the guest of honour, adding “we are all very excited and thrilled to have him amongst us”.

Jahangir, who on the occasion was awarded a shield by the Ambassador of Argentina and Dean of Diplomatic Corps Rodolfo J. Martin Saravia, expressed his gratitude for the kind reception arranged in his honour.—APP
