Murderer of six executed in Multan

MULTAN: A death row prisoner, convicted of killing at least six persons, was hanged to death in Multan's Central Jail on Thursday.

Condemned inmate Maqbool Hussain was sentenced to death by a sessions court after he was found guilty of murdering six people in 1996, allegedly to avenge the murder of his own brothers.

Hussain's mercy petitions had been rejected by higher courts and President Mamnoon Hussain before his hanging.

Pakistan lifted its moratorium on the death penalty in all capital cases on March 10.

Initially executions were resumed for terrorism offences only in the wake of a Taliban massacre at an army-run school in Peshawar which had claimed the lives of more than 150 persons, mostly schoolchildren, on December 16, 2014.

The execution of convicted prisoners had been suspended for a month by the federal government prior to the commencement of Ramazan. However, hangings resumed after Eidul Fitr.

The United Nations, the European Union, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have called on Pakistan to re-impose its moratorium on the death penalty.

There is so much filth in our society that we do not need to re-impose moratorium on death penalties, as unfortunate as it is, its the harsh reality. Massive cleansing is needed to rid the society of all evils!!

Law should be extra-harsh for terrorists who kill for no personal reason. There should also be no respite for target-killers.

When state fails to deliver rights and security to the masses, the only option remains is vengeance by themselves. No one has faith in judiciary because it is only for looting common citizens. Execution is not the solution of such heinous crimes, the only solution is provision of equal rights. If it's ensured, no one will be following the path of retaliations and society will be peaceful.

Justice serves. I guess. One thing needs pondering that majority of the cases are like a decade old..i mean the family of the victim has to wait fr a decade fr justice to be done..

I think Pakistan should implement a standard petition to EU, UK and anyone else who has a problem with this. After mercy please, there should be a plea to the EU and UK to take the convict and then we should hang the murderer.
