PESHAWAR, Oct 15: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that the government has launched the military operation in the Federally-Administered Tribal Area (Fata) at the behest of the US.

Speaking at the JI’s provincial Shoora here at Al Markaz-i- Islami on Wednesday, he said the operation in the South Waziristan Agency would develop a sense of deprivation among the tribesmen, who had rendered sacrifices for the country’s security.

He urged the government and the prime minister to halt the crackdown and should not compromise on the national sovereignty.

Mr Ahmed accused the US government of creating lawlessness and anarchy throughout the world to secure its political and economic interests.

He alleged that the US wanted to impose its own education system to change the cultural and social values of the society.

He termed Indo-Israeli-Russian nexus a conspiracy against the country’s nuclear programme and military might.

Regarding regional and international situation, the JI chief said that the government policies had isolated Pakistan in the Islamic world and Pakistan had lost its trustworthy friends.
