ISLAMABAD, Oct 14: Pakistan on Tuesday test-fired a medium range missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads, ending the series of missile tests.

An ISPR statement said Pakistan had carried out another successful test-fire of its indigenously developed medium range Hatf IV (Shaheen-1) missile.

“The test concludes for now the series of planned tests which started on October 3. The longer version of Hatf series will be tested in future as soon as technical parameters need to be validated,” it said.

The test was in continuation with the one conducted on Wednesday to validate certain additional parameters. These parameters stand completely validated in the light of data collected from the test, the announcement said.

Gen Mohammad Yousaf, Vice Chief of Army Staff, who was chief guest on the occasion, said missile tests and all aspects of weaponization completed successfully.

The general said the entire missile system and the efforts for their weaponization were all indigenous.

“They (tests) reflect Pakistan’s resolve and determination to continue to consolidate its minimum deterrence needs and national security,” the ISPR statement said. The president and prime minister congratulated scientists and engineers on their success, the statement said.
