ISLAMABAD, Dec 24: The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has not received any notification from the government regarding India’s decision of snapping road-link with Pakistan.

“The PTDC has not been informed about the government’s decision, if any, to stop operating Lahore-Delhi bus service,” the PTDC’s deputy director, Salim Iqbal, told Dawn, on Monday.

India decided to snap its road and rail links — Lahore- Delhi bus service and Samjhauta Express — from January 1 after the December 13 attack on Indian parliament, which New Delhi claims to have been carried out by a Pakistan-based organization.

He said due to extra pressure on this route, the PTDC normally confirmed seats a month in advance.

Therefore, until January 16, 2002, no seats are available,” he said.

Mr Iqbal said, before this incident, the PTDC was negotiating with the information ministry to increase the bus and rail service on Lahore-Delhi route owing to the ever-increasing number of passengers.
