SC summons SSGC chief

ISLAMABAD, Oct 13: The Supreme Court on Monday summoned the Sui Southern Gas Company’s managing director to explain as to why the court’s judgment regarding reinstatement of 775 employees was not being implemented.

A seven-member bench, specially constituted to hear the review petition filed by the SSGCL and contempt of court petitions filed by about 80 employees, took up the cases for hearing on Monday.

The federal government has filed an application, contending that it was not heard by the apex court before the passing of the judgment, adding that it was to bear the brunt of the judgment, as it owned 90 per cent of the SSGCL shares.

Justice (Retd) Malik Qayyum is representing the federal government in this regard.
