LAHORE: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Lahore chapter leader advocate Maqsood Awan on Monday announced abandoning the party along with his “300 supporters”.
Announcing his decision at a press conference here, he said he took the step after “anti-state” activities of the MQM and its chief Altaf Hussain were exposed.
Party ticket-holder for NA-118 in 2013 polls advocate Anwer Gill and others were also present on the occasion.
Mr Awan said it would be unbecoming of him and his companions to continue working with the elements which had been found “working against state institutions and on the Indian agenda”.
He offered to become an “approver” against the MQM leaders if asked to be one.

Many people have left MQM, many will leave soon. One of the biggest reason for leaving MQM in my point of view is Altaf Hussain. If MQM cuts its ties with its leadership in London, it could really benefit people of Karachi.

He already should not join this party. He wasted years to identify the real motives of this party. Where he was when MQM was enjoying full atuhority in Karachi Pakistan and supporting a dictator Musharaf. Its dilemma of our political culture that whenever the party is in doldrum, s/he quits and wants to become hero. Anyhow good decision

This is not patriotism, all these ppl who have been supporting MQM for all these years for their wrong doings, can see the writing on the wall. Most of these guys have made big bucks & now departing mqm, so that they can enjoy this money. Trying to escape the end result.

@A Patriot .... MQM gangsters failed to abandon MQM or their criminal ways. They organized crime in Karachi along with politics and divided the city into money making districts. Anyone who got in the way of their profits or did not cooperate was murdered.

When a leader has the absolute authority in a party, it will face the same situation as MQM is facing. This is warning to all, specially PPP.
Altaf missed the opportunity .He would have made Karachi a jannat but this city turned out to be hell. The truth is that MQM is not only responsible for this condition. The first step was set by Army itself when as usual it created a parallel MQM in Lahore to break the hold of MQM and after that all other elements creeped in to contribute their share to make Karachi a hell city.
Still their is time for Altaf to do damage control. Come clean from any Indian connection which I am sure he does not have.
