QUETTA: A resolution condemning Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Altaf Hussain’s remarks about the armed forces of the country was unanimously adopted by the Balochistan Assembly on Monday.

The house through the resolution called upon the federal government to bring back the MQM chief to face justice.

The joint resolution was tabled by Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Minister for Health Mir Rehmat Baloch, Adviser to Chief Minister on Finance Mir Abdul Khaliq Langov, Amanullah Notezai and Sardar Abdur Rehman Khetran.

The session was chaired by acting Speaker Mir Quddus Bizenjo.

The home minister said that the speech of the MQM leader assailing the armed forces and Rangers was against the country’s sovereignty. Besides, he added, the MQM leader was conspiring against Pakistan and therefore he should be tried under Article 6 of the constitution.

While condemning the remarks of the MQM leader, he said his remarks aimed to encourage the enemies of the country and destabilise the state.

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Abdur Rahim Ziaratwal said that though the MQM was a parliamentary group in the assembly, its leader was a `fascist’ and did not believe in the democratic approach to resolve the issues facing the country.

Leader of Opposition Sardar Abdur Rehman Khetran said Altaf Hussain was working against national interests. He said the federal government must take serious notice of such remarks and file a case against the MQM leader.
